The aim of Norwegian B is to teach the students to write good texts in Norwegian and to be able to hold a conversation in Norwegian over different topics concerning the Norwegian society.

Norwegian B has three topics in the core; communication and media, global issues and social relationships. These three, the students will be examined during written exam (paper 1). The subject also have five topics in the options; cultural diversity, customs and traditions, health, leisure and science and technology.

These options the students will be examined during oral exam and written exam (paper 2). In addition to the two written exams and one oral exam, the students will have to complete a written assignment. For this assignment, the HL students will have to read two novels in Norwegian. These four exams will be corrected by an external examiner, while three different interactive oral activities will be marked by the subject teacher.
