English Language and Literature develops skills of textual analysis of both literary and non-literary texts. The course is split into four main parts.
There is a difference in the evaluation of the standard and the higher level of the course. Higher level students have more lessons and study more texts than the standard level students. In parts 1 and 2, students will study a wide range of texts covering oral, written and visual non-literary texts. Higher level students will study three literary works in part 3 and three literary works in part 4. Standard level students will study two literary works in part 3 and two literary works in part 4.
There are several forms of assessment. They all test the knowledge and understanding of various texts and the ability to identify and understand the effect of stylistic devices. In addition, the students will study how to use the English language appropriately. The various forms of assessment are:
